Life Increasing Light
The Prophet's going to a sick Companion to ask about him
( Şefik Can Mesnevi clt.2. no: 2141)
2141 - One of the Companions fell ill. Because of that illness, he became weak and thin like a thread.
- The Prophet went to him to check on him, to ask how he was doing. Our beloved Prophet's habit was all grace, all kindness.
2212 - Checking up on the sick and asking how they are doing is to ensure friendship and unity. This unity and friendship gives birth to hundreds of love.
- The Prophet, who had no equal and no example, went to inquire about his well-being and saw that Companion in a state of death.
- When our Prophet saw that patient, he asked about his well-being and complimented that true friend.
- When the sick Companion saw the Prophet, he came to life. It was as if Allah had created him at that moment.
- He said, "The disease has given me this good fortune, and the Sultan of the Prophets came to examine me in the morning."
2255 - "The presence of this unique Sultan without entourage and without splendor has given me health; it has made me well-being.
- What a happy illness, what auspicious aches and pains and fever, what happy trouble, what pleasant night waking...
- Allah Almighty has been gracious to me in my old age and has given me such a disease and put me in such a trouble.
- He gave me back pain so that I had to get up in the middle of the night every night.
- Out of His grace, out of His mercy, He granted me troubles and sorrows so that I would not sleep like a water buffalo all night.
2260 - It was because I was sick, because I was in this broken state, because I cried out, that the mercy of that spiritual sultan became so great that he silenced the hell of pain and suffering without frightening me."
2456 - The Prophet asked the patient how he was doing. Then he said to him:
- "Have you made an inappropriate, unwarranted prayer? Did you unknowingly eat something poisonous?
- Think about it; what kind of prayer did you make? How did you become angry and frothing, following the trickery of the nafs? What did you ask Allah, what kind of prayer did you make that you fell into this disease?
- The patient said, "I do not remember it at all, but please help me to remember it now."
2460- With the blessing of the radiant peace of the Holy Prophet Mustafa (s.a.w.), the prayer of the patient came to his mind.
- The all-illuminating Prophet's blessing reminded him of what he could not remember.
- The light that distinguishes between truth and falsehood shone in the windows of the heart.
- "O Rasûlallah! The prayer I had made disrespectfully to Allah Almighty has now come to my mind.
- I had committed many sins; I was swimming in the waves of sin.
2465 - I was hearing that the torment of the criminals, those who commit sins, would be very harsh, very severe. You used to frighten us, you used to frighten us.
- I was struggling. I had no choice. The bond of the hereafter was very strong. The lock of hope and consolation would not open.
- I had no patience, no way to escape, no way to be saved. There was no hope of repentance, no strength to fight with the nafs.
- The toils and torments of the Hereafter have no limits and cannot be described. In comparison, the troubles and hardships suffered in this world are insignificant.
- Blessed is he who fights with the nafs (ego), puts his body through hardships and troubles, but tries to discipline it and shows justice.
- In order to get rid of the trouble of the Hereafter, he takes it as servitude and worship to cause himself trouble and torment in this world.
2475 - And I was saying, "O Lord!" I was saying, "Make the torment that you will inflict in the Hereafter to be inflicted in this world immediately!
- Let me be happy in the hereafter!" I kept knocking on the ring of the divine door with such a desire.
- Then such a disease appeared in me. I was no longer comfortable with the inconvenience of the disease.
- I have fallen behind in my dhikr and my prayers, and I have even become unaware of myself, my goodness and my evil.
- O holy Prophet, O blessed one, whose fragrance is blessed! If I had not seen your radiant face,
2480 - I was going to be completely free from this bond of life, that is to say, I was going to die. Please come and give me a glorious consolation."
- The Prophet said: "Do not make this prayer again; do not uproot your own tree of life!
- O weak and poor ant! What power have you to bear the burden of a mountainous disease that you cannot bear?"
- The sick Companion said, "I repented, O my sultan! I will never again consider myself tough and strong and say such a thing.
2497 - O Emir of colors! Prophet of people of various colors! For the sake of your power and strength, have pity on us to change from color to color, and bring us to a state of caution and perseverance.
- You have seen us and our disgrace and humiliation, O Sultan! Don't test us any more..
- O Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, Whose help is implored by all His servants! Do not press us too hard, do not put us to trials!
- Hide our sins and evil deeds that are still hidden, and do not reveal them.
2500 - O Allah! You are infinite in beauty, perfection and maturity; we are infinite in crookedness and perversion.
- O O Gracious One! Cover the crookedness and sins of this handful of wicked people with Your infinite grace and mercy!
- Our life has been wasted in vain. There is only one thread left of our garment of life, and it is about to break; we were a great city, we have been destroyed, we have been ruined, we have only one wall left.
- O great of the great, O our master! Protect, preserve and protect this remnant. Protect it so that the devil's soul may not rejoice.
- Not for our sake, not for our sake, but for the sake of Thy eternal grace, by which Thou seekest and favors the sinners and those who have fallen into error!
2505 - O Allah, Who bestows mercy and pity on a body made of flesh and fat! You have shown Your art, power and power of creation in the beings You created; show Your grace and mercy!
- O Allah, the greatest of the great! If this supplication of ours provokes your anger, inspire us with the supplication to be made!"
2251 - Finally the Holy Prophet said to that patient: "Add these words to your prayers. Say: "O Allah, Who makes difficulties easy!
- Give us goodness and beauty in this world and in the Hereafter!
- O Allah, make our path beautiful like a rose garden, make you our destination, make you our abode, let the path we walk always lead us to you, not only to heaven."
